Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Gain an appreciation and understanding that sports law is developing into a distinctive and cohesive body of law

Develop an understanding of the juridification of sport and of the decision-making procedures used by sports governing bodies

Understand how the lex sportiva of the Court of Arbitration for Sport operates and the relevance of the sporting legal precedent established here

Recognise the specific relationship between the law and the regulatory frameworks that sporting bodies operate within

Appreciate the general principles valued and used in sports law that are jus commune of international customary law
